Olga Brown celebrates her 100th birthday - twice!

A war-surviving resident at Kenton Hall has celebrated two 100th birthdays in September, due to her father incorrectly registering her birthday 100 years ago!

Mother of two, Olga Brown celebrates her ‘real’ birthday on September 21 – but her birth certificate says September 20 due to a mix-up by her father when registering her birth.

Olga celebrated with family, including some who travelled from Canada where Olga used to visit her late sister, at Kenton Hall with two cakes, two cards and two sets of balloons meaning guests enjoyed tucking into twice as many birthday treats.

Summer Fair

Residents, relatives, visitors, and our staff members had a great day at our summer fair, with an excellent turnout enjoying some fun in the sun. We also had our annual fun dog show, judged by Patricia Massey which was a great success on the day!

An afternoon at Scotswood Gardens

A wonderful afternoon at Scotswood Gardens with Syd and Lillian. They had a great time planting in the garden and also pots that they have brought back to Kenton Hall.

Jubilee planting at Kenton Hall

On the 20th of April, our residents had a great day out in our garden, John Anderson & Syd McNichol helped plant an apple tree for the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

Wheelchair Beautification Month

Our residents enjoyed decorating their wheelchairs, and were proud to show off their hard work to their friends and families. Don’t they look spectacular!

Olympics 2021

We just missed out on tickets and flights to the Japan 2021 Olympics, this did not deter us; we held our own and of course brought home the Gold!

Having lived at Kenton Hall since September 2020 our resident Betty Hall has celebrated her 102nd birthday surrounded by family and friends. At her birthday party, which was attended by her son Peter, she was showered with cards, gifts, flowers, balloons and received a card from the Queen.

Betty says her secret to a long life is good food and good company

World Chocolate Day!

We themed our whole day around chocolate, some people dream about this kind of day! We remembered the great film Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, and wrapped chocolate for each resident, in one bar there was a Golden Ticket, as well as enjoying the classic, Chocolat. Our activities team also put together a great visual display documenting the historical significance of the sweet treat.
