“Where is our summer”? The sun may not be shining in Kenton very much at the moment, but is always burning brightly in Kenton Hall. We had an excellent day with entertainment, balloon sculpting, tombola wonderful snacks and cakes and a very successful raffle at our (indoor) Summer Fair. We raised £1800 which has been made up to £2000 by our Directors – Thank you.

Beamish Visit!

A fab few hours were spent at Beamish museum, the volunteers were in their 1930s/40s dress & welcomed us into orchard cottage where we sat around a large dining table, the coal fire was warm & welcoming. We cut slices of fresh bread & the residents in turn toasted it over the open fire using a toasting fork. We then had some delicious home made jam & marmalade to go with it.

Olga Brown celebrates her 100th birthday - twice!

A war-surviving resident at Kenton Hall has celebrated two 100th birthdays in September, due to her father incorrectly registering her birthday 100 years ago!

Mother of two, Olga Brown celebrates her ‘real’ birthday on September 21 – but her birth certificate says September 20 due to a mix-up by her father when registering her birth.

Olga celebrated with family, including some who travelled from Canada where Olga used to visit her late sister, at Kenton Hall with two cakes, two cards, and two sets of balloons meaning guests enjoyed tucking into twice as many birthday treats.

100th Birthday Card

When Olga celebrated 100 years young in September, we thought that with the sad passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles III Olga would not receive the celebratory card from the Monarch. Olga has now received her celebratory card from the Monarch.

Releasing Our Butterflies

We have been engaged in a project to observe butterflies developing from caterpillar to pupa to butterfly. We released these beautiful Red Admirals today, to the delight of some of our residents.
